P: Good morning, Economist.
E: Good morning, Photographer.
P: I have a very fundamental question today.
E: This could become a long conversation.
P: What is economics actually about, Economist?
E: There are many answers. My favourite one is this: Economics is the art of making the most of life.
P: Wow. You're not lacking in self-confidence, Economist. I like it, though. Explain to me how does economics help to make the most of life?
E: Economics examines how people live together. So the study helps people understand the world around them. It enables people to understand people. But not only people, also businesses, markets, even governments. With this knowledge, one can better respond to the threats and opportunities that emerge. In this sense, the economist is an artist of life.
P: So we're both artists.
E: Another thing in common.
P: Maybe we shouldn't go any further for today. It won't get any better.
E: That suits me well. Have a nice day, Photographer.
P: Have a nice day, Economist.
Future Economist and Contemporary Photographer sometimes go their own ways – the economist here, the photographer there.
